Internet collapses in Yemen amid uptick in Houthi attacks on Israel

The internet outage coincides with increasing attacks by Iranian proxies against Israel and US positions in the region amid the Hamas-Israel war.

Yemen experienced nationwide internet outages in the early morning hours of Friday, a new development coinciding with an uptick in attacks by Yemen's Houthis against Israel amid the latter's ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip.

YemenNet, the country’s main internet service provider, controlled by the Houthis, went down, leaving its estimated 10 million users without online access.

“Live network data show a major internet outage on #Yemen's Houthi-controlled YemenNet telco; the incident has knocked the operator offline, leaving overall national connectivity at 33% of ordinary levels,” wrote Netblocks, an internet access monitor, in a post to X.
