The United States and Iran traded accusations over the attack on Kuwait International Airport that left one killed and 63 injured.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it was not responsible for the drone attack, claiming the incident was the result of an error in US air defense systems. US Central Command quickly denied the Iranian claim, saying the Islamic Republic was behind the strike on the civilian facility.

Kuwaiti authorities blamed Iran for the attack. Kuwait expelled two Iranian diplomats and is reducing the size of the Iranian mission in the country.

Iran also fired missiles at Bahrain in the early hours of Wednesday. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi justified Iran’s strikes, saying in a post on X Wednesday that the actions have been in self-defense against “sites the US is permitted to use to attack civilian shipping and violate the ceasefire.”

On Tuesday, Iran claimed US forces fired airborne projectiles at an IRGC communications tower in the southern part of Qeshm Island in what the United States described as “self-defense strikes” in retaliation for “attempted attacks by Iran across the Middle East.”

President Donald told reporters in the Oval Office that the talks are going “very well,” but cautioned that a deal may not come together. Trump has rejected claims by Iranian state-affiliated media that Tehran has suspended talks in protest over Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday that American military operations against Iran have “concluded,” describing recent actions as “completely defensive in nature” in response to attacks on ships.

Meanwhile, Israel and Hezbollah continued to exchange fire on Wednesday despite a partial ceasefire announced by Trump earlier this week.

Lebanese and Israeli representatives concluded the second day of their fourth round of political talks in Washington on Wednesday.
