Russia will boost ties with Iran, Kremlin says

(Reuters) -Russia is prepared to expand cooperation with Iran in all areas, the Kremlin said on Monday.

Moscow has close relations with Tehran and condemned U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites earlier this year that were carried out with the stated aim of preventing Tehran from acquiring a nuclear bomb.

EU foreign policy chief says possible Putin visit to Hungary 'not nice'

BRUSSELS (Reuters) -European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Monday that it was "not nice" that Russian President Vladimir Putin might travel to EU member Hungary for talks on Ukraine.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he would soon meet Putin in Budapest.

Kallas told reporters ahead of a gathering of European foreign ministers in Luxembourg that Trump's efforts to bring peace are welcome but that it is also important for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to meet with the Russian leader.

Cargo plane skids off Hong Kong runway, kills 2

A cargo plane veered off a runway Monday during landing in Hong Kong, hit a security patrol car and then skidded into the sea, leaving two men in the vehicle dead, authorities said.

Officials said an investigation would aim to determine what caused the Boeing aircraft to leave the tarmac at Hong Kong International Airport, the world's busiest for cargo last year, according to an industry ranking.

Trump says Israel-Hamas ceasefire still in place after Gaza strikes

US President Donald Trump said Sunday that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was still in effect after the Israeli military carried out deadly strikes on Gaza over apparent truce violations by the Palestinian armed group.

"Yeah, it is," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One when asked if the ceasefire was still in place. He also suggested that Hamas leadership was not involved in any alleged breaches and instead blamed "some rebels within."

"But either way, it's going to be handled properly. It's going to be handled toughly, but properly," Trump added.

Cargo plane slides off runway in Hong Kong, media reports two dead

HONG KONG (Reuters) -A cargo plane flying from Dubai skidded off the runway into the sea while landing at Hong Kong International Airport early on Monday, the city's airport operator said, with local media reporting the deaths of two people.

Photos taken after the accident showed a Boeing 747 cargo aircraft with AirACT livery partially submerged in water near the airport's sea wall with an escape slide deployed and the nose and tail sections separated.

Hamas armed wing says located body of deceased hostage, to be delivered Sunday

CAIRO (Reuters) -Hamas' armed wing said on Sunday that it has located the body of a hostage, which it said will be delivered to Israel on Sunday if field conditions were appropriate.

The group said any Israeli "escalation" would hinder search operations, shortly after Israel said it launched airstrikes and artillery fire at targets in southern Gaza amid disputes over ceasefire violations.

US President Donald Trump said Sunday that a ceasefire in Gaza was still holding after Israel carried out deadly strikes on the territory over alleged truce violations by Hamas.

The dozens of strikes Israel carried out on Hamas positions in southern Gaza Sunday came after it accused the militant group of targeting its troops in "a blatant violation" of the nine-day-old truce.

Iran executes individual accused of spying for Israel, news agency says

DUBAI (Reuters) -Iran executed on Saturday an individual accused of spying for Israel, the judiciary's Mizan news agency reported on Sunday citing an Iranian prosecutor.

The individual had links to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad and had leaked classified information, Mizan cited the judiciary official as saying.

Entangled in a decades-long shadow war with Israel, Iran has executed many people it accused of having links with Israel's intelligence service and facilitating its operations in the country.
