European powers submit Iran censure motion to IAEA board

Britain, France and Germany late on Monday submitted a resolution to the UN nuclear watchdog's board, censuring Iran over its lack of cooperation with the agency despite US opposition, two diplomats said.

It was the latest of numerous diplomatic manoeuvres by Western powers who fear Iran might be seeking to develop a nuclear weapon -- a claim the Islamic Republic has always denied.

"The text has been formally tabled," one diplomatic source told AFP, with a second confirming the information.

ICJ is collateral damage in dysfunctional global system: experts

Ignored by Russia and Israel, the International Court of Justice is hamstrung by a dysfunctional global system that sees countries comply with its rulings -- or not -- based on their own double standards, experts say.

In 2022, the UN's highest court ordered Russia to halt its invasion of Ukraine, still underway two years later.

In May, it ordered Israel to immediately halt its military offensive in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, which is ongoing.

Gaza mothers search for milk as malnutrition hits

Amira al-Taweel scoured pharmacies in northern Gaza for milk to feed her child, but could not find a single bottle to satisfy his hunger.

"Youssef needs treatment and milk, but there's none available in Gaza," the 33-year-old mother told AFP at Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in central Gaza where her son was admitted suffering from malnutrition.

"I feed him, but no milk as it's not available. I feed him wheat (flour) which makes him bloated," she said, as Youssef lay on a narrow bed, his frail body receiving desperately needed medication through intravenous tubes in his feet.

Israel battles Hamas as mediators urge both to accept Gaza truce plan

Israel bombarded the Gaza Strip and battled Hamas Sunday as mediators called on both sides to agree to a truce and hostage release deal outlined by US President Joe Biden.

Since Biden spoke at the White House on Friday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted Israel will pursue the war, now nearing its ninth month, until it has destroyed Hamas and freed the captives.

Palestinian militant group Hamas, meanwhile, has said it "views positively" what Biden described as an Israeli proposal.
