Hillary Clinton became the first woman to officially lead a major party presidential ticket this week, and Donald Trump still managed to make it mostly about him.
Clinton made history on July 28 by accepting her party's nomination in Philadelphia, 240 years after an all-male delegation of patriots met in that same city to adopt the Declaration of Independence and 96 years after ratification of the 19th Amendment guaranteeing a woman’s right to vote. But Trump enjoyed a post-Republican convention popularity bump that saw him pull ahead of Clinton in the RealClearPolitics polling average, 45.6% to 44.7%.
