A bomb exploded at a ceremony attended by Western diplomats in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. It was the second such attack in two weeks.

On Wednesday morning local time, an improvised explosive device went off at an event commemorating the end of World War I held in a cemetery in the coastal city of Jeddah. The embassies of France, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States were “associated” with the event, according to a joint statement from their diplomatic missions. Saudi first responders came to the scene to assist, according to the embassies.

A Greek Consulate employee and a Saudi security guard were injured in the blast, the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported.

It is unclear who was behind the attack.

Another incident took place in late October, when a Saudi man stabbed a guard at the French Consulate in Jeddah. That attack came shortly after controversial remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron on freedom of expression and Islam. Macron’s defense of a French teacher who was decapitated after showing images of the prophet of Islam Muhammad provoked outrage in the Muslim world.
