General Electric has signed two agreements with Iraq’s Electricity Ministry. The deals with the US conglomerate could help resolve some of Iraq’s chronic electricity problems and came shortly before Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi visited the White House.
Under the agreements, which are worth more than $1.2 billion, GE will perform maintenance work on Iraqi power plants and bolster the country's transmission network, Reuters reported Wednesday.
