Syria’s Kurdish parties do not see eye to eye

While Syria's Kurds call for a unified political project to manage Kurdish territories, they remain confused about the differences between the Kurdish National Council and the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Russia has repeatedly encouraged the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, to open channels of dialogue and to include the SDF in the ranks of the regime's forces.

SDF commander Mazlum Kobane announced Oct. 28 that the SDF was ready to unite Kurdish nationalist parties in Syria’s Kurdistan. Kobane told Kurdish media that during meetings between the varied Kurdish political forces in Syria’s Kurdistan, they agreed to form a unified Kurdish framework.
