يقف المجتمع العراقي عاجزاً أمام استفحال ظاهرة التحرّش الجنسي، على الرغم من القيم المحافظة التي تسوده والتي تشكّل كوابح تحول دون الاندفاع السريع نحو الانفتاح الاجتماعي والاقتصادي والإعلامي منذ العام 2003.

لكن جديد الظاهرة في العراق بخلاف بقيّة المجتمعات التي تعاني المشكلة نفسها، أن المرأة لم تعد تسكت على الانتهاكات الجنسيّة في مجتمع ذكوري يصادر حقّها في الكثير من تفاصيل الحياة، كذلك فإن وسائل الإعلام بدأت تقارب معالجة المشكلة بجرأة بعدما كانت تتناولها على استحياء.
