Israel’s efforts to reach out to Iraqis resulted in the May 6 launch of the Israeli Foreign Ministry Facebook page “Israel in the Iraqi Dialect.” The page is an attempt to “create bridges of communication and dialogue between the Israeli and the Iraqi people and to promote feelings of affinity and rapprochement.”

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said the page was launched given the “growing sympathy for Israel among the Iraqi population as a sense of nostalgia for the Jewish community that contributed to the development of modern Iraq and was forced to leave the country.”
