Iran counts on EU support in keeping nuclear deal

After the EU’s move to throw its weight behind the nuclear deal, Iran hopes the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and the lifting of international sanctions will not be affected by Donald Trump’s presidency.

On Nov. 15, speculations over US President-elect Donald Trump’s possible plans to amend the nuclear deal and the role of the European Union in safeguarding the agreement were once again the main stories on the front pages of newspapers in Iran.

Since Trump’s Nov. 8 victory, Iranian politicians and commentators have been quick to express their hope for a rational approach by the incoming US administration to the July 14, 2015, Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
