It's official: Democrat Hillary Clinton is now the first female presidential nominee of a major party in US history.

Following a decisive win in California on June 7, the former secretary of state can focus on her November showdown with Republican Donald Trump. She got a head start this week, with a ringing endorsement from President Barack Obama and a four-point lead in the polls, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average.
