How one Syrian music star is making a comeback

Tariq Dargham al-Swaydan was a well-known musician from Syria's Daraa region when conflict erupted in 2011; now he's trying to carry on with his work while living in Egypt.

When Tariq Dargham al-Swaydan sang at Jordan’s Al-Hamraa Castle at the age of 11, prominent Iraqi singer Kazem al-Saher described him as a “child prodigy.”

Swaydan, now 33, said Saher’s words helped start his career. The Syrian father of three children has been living in Alexandria, Egypt, since 2013.
