How Bibi's Iran obsession has damaged American-Jewish community's image

By soliciting the aid of American-Jewish organizations to openly battle the Iran deal in the US Congress, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu damaged the bipartisan image of the Jewish community in the United States.

Now that President Barack Obama has gained the upper hand in the congressional battle, the Iran deal will come into effect at the end of September. This will be a very rare case in which the partnership between the Israeli government and the powerful pro-Israel lobby, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), will suffer a defeat in Congress.

In this battle, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not just making his position clear against the deal; for this, he did not need to recruit the organized Jewish community to support a well-orchestrated campaign in Congress. Netanyahu was actually hoping to win.
