Hamas hopes military muscle will be Ramadan must-see TV

Palestinian TV productions have embarked on glorifying armed struggle against the Israelis in an attempt to raise awareness of the importance of carrying out military operations against them.

It was quite remarkable for Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon on July 1 to hold a Palestinian TV series responsible for the execution of armed operations against Israeli targets last May and June in the West Bank. It seemed like Ya'alon believed the Palestinians sit in their homes, watch television, and then leave home and carry out armed operations.

Ya'alon was referring to a series of recent attacks by Palestinians against Israelis. Examples of these include the armed attacks by Palestinians against Israelis in the West Bank that occurred June 29 near the Shafout Raheel settlement north of Ramallah, which resulted in the wounding of four settlers. On June 21, a Palestinian man stabbed and severely wounded an Israeli soldier near the Bad al-Amoud neighborhood in Jerusalem. On June 27, a shooting targeted an Israeli car near the Bet El Israeli settlement; it did not result in any casualties.
