Palestinian elections on hold until further notice

The reconciliation government has yet to hold the presidential and parliamentary elections in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as Hamas and Fatah accuse each other of stalling this democratic process.

RAMALLAH, West Bank — It has been five months since the formation of the national unity government, which has yet to achieve its most important task: preparing for the presidential and legislative elections.

There are indicators according to which the ballot boxes will remain closed until further notice, as politicians and observers say that no elections will be held anytime soon.
