To the Editor:

We are concerned about the speculation in the article titled “Prison Break, Suicide, Bombing Rock Iraqi Kurdistan” by Denise Natali, dated Oct. 8.

The article, I regret, is based more on speculation than on an objective reading of the facts about the Sept. 29 bomb attack in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

So to start with the positive, Natali is correct that the attack was a “rare event” and that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has successfully dealt with terrorism in the three provinces of Iraq it administers since the last such terrorist attack on May 9, 2007.
