Janne Louise Andersen

Janne Louise Andersen is a Danish journalist based in New York with a masters degree in multimedia journalism from Hofstra University and a bachelors degree in cultural anthropology from Copenhagen University. She freelances for Danish, American and Arab print and online media.

Previously, Janne lived in Copenhagen and edited the Danish section of  Akhbar al-Danmark, a bilingual Arabic-Danish newspaper published by The Arabic Media House in Denmark. From 2007 to 2009, she lived in Israel and the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories, where she studied Arabic and cultural anthropology, interned at the diplomatic mission of Denmark and managed a project that supported the local hip-hop scene — an experience she writes about in the new anthology Palestinian Music and Song - Expression and Resistance since 1900 released by Indiana Press in May 2013.

She has had articles published in Rolling Stone Middle East, The National and Danish media including Weekendavisen, GaffaOpinionen and Politiken, and she is a founding member of korrespondenterne.dk, a Danish online start-up media organization focused on foreign affairs. In New York she has worked at the weekly newspaper Queens Chronicle and as an assistant production editor at longislandreport.org, a local Long Island news site.
