The Knesset approved March 10 a first reading of a bill requiring those returning to Israel from abroad to self-isolate at home with an electronic bracelet, not unlike those worn by people detained under house arrest.

The bracelet would be worn either on the wrist or on the ankle. It would monitor the wearer’s location via Bluetooth and GPS, connected to a provided mobile phone number. Returning Israelis who refuse to wear the bracelet or are unable to isolate at home would be required to stay at a government-run quarantine hotel. These measures would apply to all returning citizens over age 14.
